Contact support

Do not send passwords, SMS codes or your private-space passphrase. Support cannot recover a lost passphrase.

Request deletion of your Nook account

You can request deletion from this page without signing in to the app or reinstalling it. Email the address below with the subject “Nook account deletion request”, providing the number linked to your account and your username, if known. Do not send passwords, SMS codes or your private-space passphrase. Proportionate information may be needed to verify that the account belongs to you.

Request deletion by email

The request covers your account, profile and associated online data held by Nook. Copies on other participants’ phones, originals in your gallery and external backups are separate. See the privacy notice for exceptions and retention criteria; immediate deletion of every provider copy is not promised. Leaving or being removed from a group prevents new access to its content on the server, but does not delete copies already received. If the owner deletes their account and participants remain, ownership passes to one of them.

The trial registry is active: deleting an account does not entitle the same verified phone number to another 30-day free trial. We retain a pseudonymized fingerprint of the number (HMAC) and the first trial start date for as long as Nook offers the 30-day trial, without storing the number in plain text in this registry.

Nook’s one-time purchase has no renewals to cancel. Deleting your account or uninstalling the app does not automatically issue a refund. For help with purchases and restoration, contact Nook or the store you used.

After deleting your previous account, you can request restoration using the same verified phone number associated with the original purchase and an authentic Apple purchase that is still valid. Nook checks the proof of purchase and its status with Apple before granting access to the new account. A refunded or revoked purchase does not qualify for restoration. If the checks fail, contact support.

To recover a Google Play purchase after deleting the account, sign in with the same verified phone number associated with the original purchase and choose Restore purchases using the relevant Google Play account. Nook checks the valid purchase and its association with Google again. The previous Nook account must have been deleted and there must be no conflicting purchases or attempts. A refunded or revoked purchase does not grant access. Recovery does not restore messages or keys.

Google Play purchases: technical information updated on October 21, 2026. Purchase, restore and refund tests succeeded.

Deleted data and retention: read the privacy notice

Frequently asked questions

Can I register with my number?

Yes. In Account, enter your full number with country code, request an SMS code and enter the latest code received. Complete your profile with your name. To start a chat, find someone already registered with Nook.

How do I open the private space?

Press and hold the logo to open your private space. Use a passphrase only you know. Settings → Your room → Open private space. To enter an existing room, enter its password and choose Open. To create a separate empty room, choose Create and repeat a new password of at least 12 characters. Chats in other rooms are not deleted.

How do I leave and lock the space?

Tap “Back to chats”. The app returns to the regular list, closes the private session and clears the unsent private draft. Your passphrase is needed again to return. The button is also present in photo and video previews.

It also locks in the background or after your chosen inactivity period. On Android, opening only the notification panel does not guarantee locking: use the dedicated button.

How do I move a chat?

Open a conversation → three dots → “Move to private space”, then enter your passphrase. To return it to the regular list, open it in the private space and choose “Move back to regular chats”.

How do I send photos or videos?

Use the paperclip to choose photos, videos, documents or a location. Check the preview before sending. Photos: up to 5 MB; videos: up to 20 MB after compression. Photos and videos are available for 48 hours after sending. Save them to keep them. In updated versions with this feature enabled, online photos and videos expire 48 hours after actual sending, using server time, even if unread. The server blocks access and automatic cleanup removes the encrypted files; failures are retried. Incomplete uploads and orphan files in the new system are cleaned up after 24 hours. Text, captions and message metadata remain under the chat and account rules. Documents (up to 25 MiB) do not have this expiry. This change does not retroactively delete older attachments. Copies already saved to the gallery remain on the phone.

How do I delete messages or conversations?

Press and hold a message and choose “Delete for me”. For a chat, swipe its row left and tap “Delete”, or use a long press or the conversation menu. Confirm the action. Deletion affects your device and does not delete recipients’ copies or gallery originals.

How do I request deletion of my account and data?

The trial registry is active: deleting an account does not entitle the same verified phone number to another 30-day free trial. We retain a pseudonymized fingerprint of the number (HMAC) and the first trial start date for as long as Nook offers the 30-day trial, without storing the number in plain text in this registry.

Available account options are in the Account tab. You can also write to krelunaid@gmail.com stating that you request deletion. Do not send passwords or codes. Copies kept by other participants are not removed from their phones. The 30-day free trial is available once per verified phone number. To prevent it from restarting after account deletion, we retain a pseudonymised fingerprint of the number (HMAC) and the original trial start date for as long as Nook offers this 30-day trial. This register contains neither the plain-text number nor messages and is not deleted with the account. For errors, reassigned numbers or data requests, contact Nook support.

The Android update won’t install. What should I do?

Send the exact error message to support. Do not uninstall Nook to try to fix it: the private space is local and has no recovery feature. Only use an update provided through the Nook channel you already use.

How do I report misconduct?

Blocks and reports: technical information updated on 13 October 2026. New features depend on the installed version.

Open the actions for a received message in an online chat and choose “Report message”. Describe the issue; you can choose to share up to 4,000 characters of the selected text only. Entire chats, photos and videos are not attached automatically: describe any attachments. You can also block the person. The Nook team receives the report in its private safety inbox. Contact Nook for support; it is not an emergency channel and an immediate response is not guaranteed.

Another device

Create a password-protected package. On the new device, sign in with the same number, then import it from Account. Number verified. To open chats you need your key: on the device where Nook works, open Account → Link a device → Another device and create the package. Send the package only to yourself and paste it on the new device. Keep the password separate: anyone with both can read your account’s chats. If the encrypted package is already saved as a file, you can use “Choose linking file” instead of pasting it. After selecting it, enter the transfer password and choose “Link and open chats”. This password protects the transfer. It is not your private room password.

Chats that are private when the package is created stay hidden on the new device. Their archive and private password do not transfer: open them on the original device. Update both devices and create a NOOK-ID2 package first: old NOOK-ID1 packages cannot be imported. Without the original device or a compatible package, the key cannot be recovered.

My profiles

Open My profiles from Account, Settings or the Groups section. You can create one without having any groups. Under How they will see you, choose Saved profile, then Use in this group and confirm saving the group. You can also save the draft among your profiles. Up to 50 templates per account and space, separate from the main profile.

BOARD AND REMINDERS

Notes and reminders stay personal on your device, separate between regular and private spaces. Share one note’s text by choosing a chat, previewing and confirming. Pick a date and time with the calendar and clock, then enable the bell for a generic local alert. Phone permissions are required; sound and timing depend on the system. Up to 60 active future alerts per account on the device; no automatic synchronization.

Documents

To attach a document, choose Document and select a file in the system picker, then check the preview and confirm sending. The app uses temporary copies without changing the original. In online chats, the file and its name are end-to-end encrypted; in personal notes, they stay local. You can explicitly choose to open or export a received document: copies saved or opened outside Nook are handled by the app or service you choose. Previews and exports can create temporary copies on the device.

Current location

Sharing your location is optional. Choose Current location: Nook requests location permission while you use the app and obtains a single point, shown in a preview before confirmation. It does not follow your movements or use location in the background. In online chats, the coordinates and map link are sent as end-to-end encrypted text. Opening the link is a separate choice and sends the coordinates to Google Maps or the map app handling it, under its privacy policy. If you report that message and explicitly choose to include its text, Nook moderators also receive the coordinates contained in the selected text.

Personal wallpapers

You can keep Nook’s original background, choose an included wallpaper or select your own photo using the system picker. The photo is processed on the device and stays in the app’s local data; in a private space, it is stored in that space’s encrypted archive. The wallpaper is not uploaded to the server or sent to chat participants. It does not change profile or group photos. The original in the gallery and any backup copies remain separate.

Current limitations

Photos and videos sent with this version expire on the server 48 hours after sending, even if unread. Text and copies saved to the gallery remain. New separate chats require updated Nook on both sides. To link another device, update the original device and create a new transfer package: old packages cannot be imported. Private archives and their passwords do not transfer. Passwords cannot be recovered; private space does not guarantee undetectability. Calls are not included. Groups require accepting an invitation; new members do not receive earlier history. Do not use Nook as your only channel for urgent communications or your only copy of important information. When message alerts are available and enabled, Nook registers a device token and technical installation and session identifiers on the server. A device-specific list permits alerts for regular chats and groups; private conversations are excluded. Apple APNs or Google FCM receive the token, opaque identifiers and generic text, without names, message content or a private-space indicator. Delivery and display depend on the system and service availability. An alert already sent to the system cannot always be recalled. A notification can show that you use Nook. You can disable alerts in the app or phone settings.
